Dropper Bottle comes to you from a solo developer with a hobby and a dream. A year ago I left a stable, steady job to try and turn what I love into a career. I made this app out of a passion for painting and gaming, but I'm hoping it can help me support my family and our loving dog, too. Installing outside the Play Store

Dropper Bottle isn't on the Play Store, so your phone will warn you once during install. This is expected. Android shows that warning for every app installed from outside the store — it's a statement about where the file came from, not about whether it's safe.

  1. Tap the download above. Chrome may ask you to confirm the download — choose Download anyway.
  2. Open the file. Android will say your phone isn't allowed to install unknown apps from this source.
  3. Tap Settings, turn on Allow from this source, then press back.
  4. Tap Install. If Play Protect offers to scan the app, let it — it will come back clean.

You only do this once. Updates install normally afterwards.

Dropper Bottle is a one-time purchase, and the free trial runs for a full 24 hours — so you can use the whole app, your whole paint rack, before you decide whether to pay for it.

If you bought it and it isn't for you, email me within 14 days of purchase and I'll refund you in full. No form to fill in and no reason needed — just tell me the email address you paid with.

What is the best app for tracking a miniature paint collection?

Dropper Bottle catalogs 5,300+ paints from 14 manufacturers and works offline on Android and Windows. Its distinguishing feature is the camera: point it at a bottle in a shop and it reads the label and tells you whether that paint is already on your shelf at home. It is a one-time purchase with no subscription, no ads and no account.

How do I know which paints I already own?

Open "Do I own this?", hold the bottle up and take a photo. The app reads the label on-device and checks both the name and the color against your collection. If you don't own it, it offers to put it on your shopping list.

Which paint brands does it cover?

Citadel, Vallejo, The Army Painter, Tamiya, Mr. Hobby (GSI Creos), AK Interactive, AMMO by Mig Jimenez, Reaper, Scale75, Two Thin Coats, Monument Pro Acryl, Mission Models, TT Combat and Ionic Smart Colors. It also tracks the things that aren't paint but still get bought twice: plastic cements, surfacers and primers, thinners, top coats, panel line accents, putties and weathering products.

Does it work offline, and does my collection leave my device?

It works entirely offline and your collection never leaves your device. There is no account and no server copy. Moving a collection to a second device is done directly, by QR code, a text code, or over your own Wi-Fi — nothing passes through a server.

Is there a subscription?

No. It is free for 24 hours, then a one-time payment from ¥500. That includes everything added later. There is no advertising and no usage tracking of any kind.

Is there an iPhone version?

Not currently. Dropper Bottle runs on Android 5.1 and later, and on Windows. The Windows app also hosts Wi-Fi sync with a phone.

Can I mix my own paint recipes?

Yes. Combine up to four paints by ratio, preview the blended color, and save the result as your own paint so it can be used in projects and shopping lists like any other. The app can also suggest the closest mix achievable from paints you already own.
